June Opening Days & Event Information

Greetings from the Nidec Orgel Showroom, located in the Karasuma Oike area of Kyoto.

We are pleased to announce our opening schedule, special exhibition, and workshops for June. Visitors can enjoy music box displays, hands-on experiences, and art exhibitions as part of their Kyoto sightseeing and cultural exploration.

Natsuki Kurimoto Exhibition

We are pleased to present a special exhibition by Kyoto-based lacquer artist Natsuki Kurimoto.

Under the theme “Urushi: The Regeneration of Life,” this exhibition introduces works that reinterpret the traditional Japanese art of lacquerware through a contemporary perspective.

Artist Profile

Natsuki Kurimoto

Professor, Department of Crafts (Lacquer Art), Kyoto City University of Arts.

Building upon traditional lacquer techniques, Kurimoto pursues innovative and contemporary forms of artistic expression. Her works have been exhibited in museums and international exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, earning recognition in the field of contemporary lacquer art.

Related Workshop

Create a One-of-a-Kind Accessory with Colored Urushi Lacquer

Join Kyoto-based lacquer artist Natsuki Kurimoto for a hands-on lacquer art workshop.

Participants will decorate lacquer-coated wooden bases using natural colored urushi lacquer and create their own unique accessory. Even first-time participants are welcome, as the artist will provide careful guidance throughout the process.

After the workshop, participants can relax with seasonal Japanese sweets and tea while enjoying the atmosphere of the showroom.

Flower Workshop

Music Box × Preserved Flower Arrangement Experience

One of our most popular hands-on workshops combines the gentle sound of a music box with the beauty of preserved flowers.

This experience is highly recommended for visitors seeking a memorable Kyoto activity, a unique handmade gift, or a special keepsake from their travels.

June 5 (Fri), June 8 (Mon), and June 30 (Tue)

Workshop Content

Create your own original floral arrangement by combining preserved flowers with a music box. Our staff will carefully assist participants, making the workshop enjoyable even for beginners.

After completing your work, you may take photographs in the showroom and enjoy seasonal Japanese sweets and matcha tea in our traditional Kyoto-style room, “Kyo-no-Ma.”
